Updates on RTS' response to COVID-19 can be found at myrts.com/COVID-19-Updates

With the Flu season still underway and the heightened awareness of the COVID-19 novel Coronavirus, Regional Transit Service (RTS) is sharing information that everyone can use to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Our top priority is to ensure that our customers and our employees stay healthy and safe. That is why RTS has been in touch with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the New York State Department of Health, the Monroe County Department of Public Health, and the Monroe County Executive’s office to make sure we have the best information available regarding the Coronavirus.

While these health experts say the immediate risk remains low for people to be exposed to the virus, there are some simple precautions we all can observe to keep ourselves and those around us healthy:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw tissue in the trash.
  • Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes to avoid transferring germs.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently used surfaces, like counters, light switches, doorknobs and cellphones.
  • Stay home when you are sick and avoid close contact with others.

We are following the guidance of state and local health authorities to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. We ask that all RTS customers take the advice of health experts to stay home and avoid public places if they are sick, especially if there are symptoms similar to those of the flu.

If you have questions about the Coronavirus, please visit the Coronavirus Resource page on the Monroe County website at https://www2.monroecounty.gov/health-coronavirus or call the New York State Department of Health hotline at (888) 364-3065.
