We were taught at a young age to say please and thank you. If your parents were like mine, they made it a priority to ensure that this fundamental life lesson was drilled into us to the point that we always know when to say it and to whom. On Veterans Day, saying thank you to our nation’s veterans – especially to our customers and to the 101 veterans who work here at RTS – is unquestionably one of those moments. These brave men and women were willing to put their lives on the line to keep our country safe and protect the many freedoms we enjoy every day.
RTS has long been committed to serving veterans. We have partnered with the Veterans Outreach Center to provide access to transit for seriously ill and disabled veterans. We have worked through the Greater Rochester Community Transportation Foundation to support transportation costs for local veterans. We provide safe, reliable and convenient public transportation that connects veterans to jobs, education and health care. And as a public employer, we continue to recruit and serve veterans who seek civilian employment when their military service comes to an end.
As we celebrate, honor and remember America’s veterans, please join me in saying thank you.
