RTS is celebrating ROC Transit Day by focusing on the value of public transit in our community. By connecting our customers to jobs, education, health care, shopping and recreational activities, RTS is playing an important role in the community’s fight against poverty and ongoing efforts to support job growth and strengthen the economy.
Using the #ROCTransitDay hashtag, RTS is engaging with customers and business partners, as well as community and elected leaders in a social media-based conversation on why transit is important in the community. RTS CEO Bill Carpenter recorded a series of short videos that offer his perspective on why transit is important, the role of RTS in the community, and what transit could look like 20 years from now. Those videos will be posted throughout the day on Twitter at @enjoyRTS, Facebook at www.facebook.com/enjoyRTS, on LinkedIn and the RTS YouTube channel.
RTS has also created an infographic that shares some interesting facts and benefits of public transit that some may not be aware of such as how many customers ride the bus each week, the amount of money that can be saved compared to driving a car, and the positive effect transit has on the environment.
