Route assessment showed adjustments could be made

Beginning Monday, Jan. 26, gate assignments at the RTS Transit Center will change for most customers who ride Suburban and Park & Ride Routes.* Changes are the result of RTS’ ongoing review of Transit Center routes and schedules.

With the change, approximately 75 percent of all Suburban and Park & Ride customers (48 outbound departures each weekday and five on Saturday) will depart from inside the RTS Transit Center instead of Mortimer Street.

RTS COO Miguel Velazquez said, “With the RTS Transit Center open for eight weeks now, we have gained experience and information which enables us to make informed changes to improve the customer experience. We’re pleased that most suburban commuters will now be able to board from inside the Transit Center.”

 *Impacted routes are:

  •  81 Fairport
  •  82 Penfield
  • 101 Avon/East Henrietta
  • 102 Perinton-Bushnells Basin
  • 103 Webster
  • 104 Brockport
  • 106 Hilton

Customers can find their new gate assignments by checking digital monitors at the RTS Transit Center, contacting RTS Customer Service at 585-288-1700 or in person at the RTS Transit Center, Where’s My Bus? mobile app, online at myRTS.com, and on signage at Mortimer St. bus shelters.

The gate changes are part of RTS’ ongoing process to assess and evaluate routes, schedules and gate assignments.

Velazquez concluded, “Service excellence is an integral part of our mission to provide safe, reliable, and convenient public transportation for more than 18 million customers we serve each year. We expect The Transit Center to continue to transform the bus experience for our customers every day.”
