RTS Announces Shift to Dial-A-Ride Service in Ontario, Seneca and Wayne Counties

Rochester, NY: Regional Transit Service (RTS) today announced that it will adjust its service to operate Dial-A-Ride public transit service only in Ontario, Seneca and Wayne Counties starting Monday, April 6, 2020. This shift is to help protect RTS employees and customers, and help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. RTS Genesee and RTS Wyoming switched to Dial-A-Ride on March 26, 2020.

 

RTS Ontario:

  • Customers in Ontario County can schedule a ride 24 hours in advance by calling RTS Ontario at (585) 394-2250.
  • Dial-A-Ride service will be available from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends.
  • The Wegmans Senior Service and Office for Aging Services will continue running on its normal schedule.

 

RTS Seneca:

  • Customers in Seneca County can schedule a ride at least 24 hours in advance by calling RTS Seneca at (315) 539-1844.
  • Dial-A-Ride service will be available from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

RTS Wayne:

  • Customers in Wayne County can schedule a ride within each quadrant at least 24 hours in advance by calling RTS Wayne at (315) 946-5617.
  • In county Dial-A-Ride service will be available as follows:
    • NW:    (Ontario/Sodus area)           10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
    • NE:     (Wolcott area)                       10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
    • SE:      (Clyde/Savannah area)       11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
    • SW:     (Newark/Lyons area)           11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Routes 302, 307, 331AM, and the Wegmans Senior Service shuttle will continue operating on their normal schedules.
  • Route 331PM will travel west as far as the Macedon Wal-Mart and return at the normal scheduled time.

 

RTS encourages customers to follow the guidance of Governor Andrew Cuomo: “Individuals should limit use of public transportation to when absolutely necessary and should limit potential exposure by spacing out at least six feet from other riders.” Please join us in embracing the Governor’s guidance and use RTS only for essential travel. This includes trips to work if they are employed by an “essential” business, as well as trips to the grocery store, pharmacy or doctor. Please stay home if you are sick.
