It was announced today that Regional Transit Service (RTS) is receiving $9.9 million as part of Governor Andrew Cuomo's Public Transportation Modernization and Enhancement Program. As mentioned in the Governor's announcement, these transit capital funds will be used to replace buses in our fleet and invest in projects such as upgrading our technology systems to make it easier for customers to enjoy the ride.

“RTS thanks Governor Cuomo for the release of these transit capital funds and for recognizing the need to immediately invest in transit infrastructure," said Bill Carpenter, CEO of RTS. “This funding, which is part of the significant five-year transportation program approved by the Governor and Legislature last year, will help replace over-age buses, improve transit facilities and allow us to provide better service in the communities we serve.”

The Governor's announcement can be read in full on his website.
