Regional Transit Service (RTS) today announced new service and schedule changes that will go into effect on Monday, January 2, 2017. To make it easier for customers to understand that “limited” stop service routes provide faster service with fewer stops to some of Rochester’s more popular destinations, RTS is renaming them the ROC-it Routes. These routes will have their own paper schedules which will be available later this month at the RTS Transit Center. The following table identifies how the ROC-it Routes are currently identified and how they will be known starting on January 2, 2017.

The specific bus stops along each of the ROC-it Routes will be changed to include the new ROC-it Route logo as new bus stop signs are installed throughout 2017.

Additionally, the existing routes that will see improvements are the 9 Jay/Maple, the 10 Dewey, and the 16 Crosstown. The improvements for these routes will include:

  • Route 9 Jay/Maple is being extended to the Rochester Tech Park to provide improved service to customers on that route, including those working at the new Maximus call center.
  • Route 10 Dewey will be improved to include extended weekday trips from Dewey & Ridge to Northgate Plaza and Walmart.
  • Every trip on the route 16 Crosstown will be expanded to connect workers to jobs along the route.

“These changes, along with the newly-named ROC-it Routes, are part of our ongoing effort to better understand the needs of our customers and make improvements to our system that make it easier for them to enjoy the ride,” said RTS CEO Bill Carpenter. “We invite all of our customers to share their comments and ideas so that we can continue providing safe, reliable and convenient public transit.”
