RTS Proposing Suburban Park & Ride Route Changes—Give Us Your Thoughts!

-  RTS is proposing changes to all Suburban Park & Ride routes and is inviting the public to ask questions and provide feedback at two Information Sessions and a Public Hearing.

Information Sessions and Public Hearing Scheduled For Lift Line Service
July 3, 2014 - To meet the changing needs of the ADA population and customers with mobility issues, RGRTA is proposing improvements to its paratransit service, Lift Line. RGRTA is inviting customers to learn more about the proposed improvements online at www.rgrta.com and during four Public Information Sessions in July. 

RGRTA Bus Operators to Showcase Skills at Annual Bus Roadeo
June 13, 2014 - Bus Operators representing RTS, Lift Line and seven regional subsidiaries will compete in the annual Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA) Bus Roadeo, on Saturday, June 21, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Lot G at Monroe Community College. 

RTS Endless Summer Fun Pass Available for Students
June 10, 2014 - 
Rochester-area students, ages 12 to 17, are eligible to apply for RTS’ Endless Summer Fun Pass. For $40, the pass allows unlimited rides on all RTS buses between June 30 and Sept. 2, 2014. 

Redesigned RTS Bus Service for Route 4 Begins June 30
June 6, 2014 - Customers who use one of RTS’ busiest routes: Route 4-Genesee Street and Route 4-Hudson Avenue, will see improvements to weekday service as of June 30.  

RTS Launches Mobile App for Customers, Community
May 21, 2014 - 
Customers can now use their mobile phones to plan a bus trip or visually track the nearest Regional Transit Service (RTS) bus to find out what time it will arrive. The new RTS “Where’s My Bus?” mobile app will allow Apple and Android users to access comprehensive real-time information on bus arrival times, nearest stops, routes and service alerts for the Greater Rochester area—right from the palm of their hand. 

RGRTA Invites Customers to Take Part in Customer Satisfaction Survey
May 12, 2014 -
Rochester Genesee Regional Transit Authority (RGRTA) and 16 other transit agencies across the U.S. are asking customers to participate in a brief online survey about area bus service. Data collected from all agencies will be combined to help improve service for customers by guiding the formation of a national benchmark of best practices in public transit.

Rochester Ranks 13 in U.S. for Increased Public Transit Use
Jan. 14, 2014 - A recent study on transportation trends in the U.S. revealed that the Rochester community saw a 37.4 percent increase in public transit miles traveled per-capita from 2005 to 2010—ranking it 13th highest in that category in the nation. 

RTS Offers Free Bus Rides on New Year's Eve
Dec. 27, 2013 - The Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority will offer free RTS bus rides to local residents this New Year’s Eve. Adults and children can ride RTS buses for free on all regular routes that begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, and end early Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.

Take the Bus for a Buck to Frozen Frontier
Dec. 9, 2013 - Hockey fans headed for the “Frozen Frontier” festival can avoid the cost and hassle of parking and driving if they opt to take the bus. For $1 per trip, fans have the option of several RTS routes which stop directly outside of Frontier Field. 

Redesigned RTS Bus Service for Westside Communities Starts Jan. 6
Dec. 4, 2013 - Effective Jan. 6, 2014, Brockport, Spencerport, and Gates communities will have improved bus service to key educational, retail, and employment destinations via RTS’ Route 20. Destinations include SUNY Brockport, Village of Spencerport, Rochester Tech Park in Gates, and the Brockport Park and Ride—located on Commencement Drive, off of Route 31 and Lake Road.

RTS Launches Streamlined Service for Select Webster, Downtown Routes
Nov. 26, 2013 - Busy Webster riders will see faster commute times beginning Jan. 6, 2014, when RTS implements improvements to bus routes 30 and 2. The routes travel between key destinations like Baytowne Plaza, Xerox and downtown Rochester.

Lift Line Program Connects Disabled Vets to the Community
Nov. 22, 2013 - Through grants obtained from the Greater Rochester Community Transportation Foundation, federal funding, and The Pike Company, local disabled veterans will now be eligible for free transportation from Lift Line, Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority’s (RGRTA) paratransit service.

The ‘RTS Holiday Express’ will Carry Shoppers to Area Malls
Nov. 21, 2013 - The Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority(RGRTA) will launch the RTS Holiday Express bus service on Monday, Nov 25. The service will run through Jan. 5, 2014. The daily service departs hourly from locations on Main Street or Hudson Avenue. Riders can travel non-stop to three great shopping destinations: The Mall at Greece Ridge, Marketplace Mall and the Walmart Supercenter on Hudson Avenue.

RGRTA Receives Top Honor for 2013/14 Budget Prepartion, Presentation
Oct. 22, 2013 - The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA) for the Annual Budget beginning April 1, 2013. The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement for RGRTA. 

New RTS Buses will Carry Names of Area Children, Grandchildren
Oct. 18, 2013 - Deja, Azalea, Michael and Starr are just four of the 38 children who will be in attendance at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority’s headquarters for their festive annual ‘bus naming ceremony.’

Major Reduction in Students Downtown with new Bus-Pass System
Oct. 1, 2013 - Scolding a small number of students for unacceptable behavior, Superintendent Bolgen Vargas, Ed.D., today joined Mayor Thomas S. Richards, Board of Education President Malik Evans, and Regional Transit Service executives in announcing changes to bus passes that will restrict the ability of thousands of students to travel anywhere on RTS buses except directly to and from school.
