Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ensures equal access to transportation for people with disabilities.
At RTS Ontario, we work hard to comply with all ADA policies. We also offer the following special services as part of our commitment to providing the best possible service for every single one of our customers.
In the front of all of our buses, you’ll find priority seating for seniors and people with disabilities. In accordance with the ADA, Bus Operators may ask (but not require) other customers to offer these seats to seniors and people with disabilities.
Reserved Seating for People with Mobility Devices
By law, we reserve areas where mobility devices, such as wheelchairs can be secured for the people who need them. Bus Operators are required to ask customers to provide access to those areas for people using mobility devices.
Route Deviation Service
We comply with the American Disabilities Act (ADA) via our Route Deviation Service. The bus may deviate from the route to serve points within ¾ mile off the route. Following an off route deviation, the bus will return to the point on the route it left. If you cannot reach regular bus stops, route deviation may be a good option for you.
To reserve a ride, call during our regular business hours at least one day before your desired trip, and up to one week in advance. Weekend and Monday reservations must be called in by 3:00 pm on Friday. Route deviation fares may be charged twice the route fare without discounts.
